Research focus
With over 20 years of expertise and leadership in academic research, I successfully carried out basic and translational research programs to understand, propose, and test new therapeutic avenues for chronic inflammatory diseases. I have a solid background in classic and molecular pharmacology, with specific training and expertise in immunology and cell signaling. My research programs include target identification and validation studies, focusing on enzymes thought to play key roles in uncontrolled low-grade inflammatory reactions and in the etiology of cardiovascular, cancer, antiviral innate immunity, and autoimmune diseases. These enzymes (protein kinases, E3 ligases, and deubiquitinases) are (or will soon become) druggable targets.
